OverviewThe Prestonpans Tapestry presents full colour images of all 104 panels of the world's longest embroidered tapestry together with accompanying historical analysis of each. It tells the story of the Hopes and Ambitions of 25 year old Bonnie Prince Charlie to regain the British throne for his exiled father. Within eight weeks of landing in the Hebrides he had raised a Highland army, taken Edinburgh without a shot being fired and defeated Johnnie Cope's Hanoverian army in a stunning Victory at Prestonpans. Scotland was his. This tapestry has been stitched by volunteers along the route the Prince took in 1745 and each of them is recorded in the book. The completed work took 24 months to complete and in excess of 25,000 stitching hours. Andrew Crummy designed the tapestry in its entirety with Dorie Wilkie leading the stitchers.
