OverviewThe Precious Few is based on a thousand true stories and documents the love and dedication of a young brother and sister, Polish Jews, during the tumultuous start of World War II. We follow them as they struggle to stay alive, and retaliate against their oppressors. Many of the stories and events portrayed in the book will be startlingly new, even to Word War II buffs. The book reveals a different side of the stereotypical view of the Polish people and the Nazis occupiers, swiftly moving through the Polish history of World War II and to the Israeli War of Independence and beyond. The subplots and the chance meetings and interactions of the central characters create a flow of life rich in spirit and driven by determination. Remnants of families lost to concentration camp horrors spawn a new era of a Jewish culture—a mindset to fight back against the oppression and victimization of any people. Table of ContentsReviews"""Extensively researched and well-written, [the book] quickly engrosses the reader into a sad chronology of frightening events, intertwined with many historical facts, during the Holocaust, and its aftermath. As a Holocaust survivor, I can attest that this book is a tour de force for anybody interested in history."" -Alter Wiener, death camp survivor and author of From a name to a number. A Holocaust Survivor's Autobiography ""I was very impressed with how this book resonated with history. I really cared about the characters and wanted to see how life worked out for them. As I read the book, I found myself feeling like a fly on the wall, fully immersed and involved in its content. It would make a spellbinding movie."" -Jean Perloff, Attorney at Law ""Terrific book. I couldn't put it down. I kept reading and reading until I finished it a few days later. I enjoyed the characters and the action. I like that the writing was simple and direct, not full of side trips and flowery language. It's a real page-turner."" -Jeffrey Wood, founder of AudioHighway.com ""The story speaks of a time that changed the future path of millions of innocent families, and how some survived only on threads of hope and kinship. The story makes you think-as it should: Never again! I highly recommend The Precious Few to any reader interested in the human tragedy we know as the Holocaust."" -Wayne R. Bayliff, author and publisher ""Instead of dwelling on the dark horror of Holocaust events, the Precious Few focuses on the uplifting bravery and heroism of disparate young Jews who challenged the powerful Nazi stranglehold and succeeded, each in their own way. It left me feeling greatly moved."" -Claire Kahane, PhD, professor emerita, and author" """Extensively researched and well-written, [the book] quickly engrosses the reader into a sad chronology of frightening events, intertwined with many historical facts, during the Holocaust, and its aftermath.
