Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationRaziah Ahmed was elected to the position of President of the Senate in the Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and has Acted as Her Excellency the President of the Republic. She is the second woman in the history of Trinidad and Tobago, to hold that position. In the 10th Republican Parliament, she was Minister of State in the Ministry of Gender Youth and Child Development, and a member of the Child Protection Task Force, Trinidad and Tobago, 2014. Raziah served as Co-Chair of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Public Accounts Steering Committee at Westminster, London. In her home country, she was instrumental in getting legislative amendments to the Parliament to ensure the establishment of the Children's Authority. She worked as a Member of Parliament on two previous terms. She also wrote a financial planning column for several years, published in two leading daily newspapers. She was Past President of Madinah House - a half-way house for battered women and Past President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
