OverviewIn this heartfelt memoir, Elizabeth Barclay recounts her favorite stories of growing up in a family with little money but more than enough love, laughter, and music. Her family's rich history was passed down through family legends, myths, and tall tales. Her dad was a preacher, who was born in Singapore. Her mom, a partner to her dad in life and in ministry, was born in Sioux City, Iowa. The ancestors of both emigrated from Friesland, a province in North Netherlands. Elizabeth was the middle daughter of six rambunctious PKs (preacher's kids) born in the United States during the Great Depression. The church moved the family more than fifty times within eight states while the children were growing up, which allowed them a unique view of the places they lived and visited across the country. PKs are sometimes said to cause more trouble than they're worth, and are even characterized as wild little devils and mischief-makers. Some claim they're the most misbehaved kids in school. Others believe teachers go easy on PKs, afraid that punishment or bad grades for those kids might affect their entry into heaven. Fortunately, Elizabeth's parents never believed any of the scuttlebutt about PKs. They knew their children were different-good as gold, and smarter. See what adventures await in The Preacher and His Kids!
