OverviewThis volume presents a review of the pre-Mesozoic geology of the Alps. The experience of 200 years of geological investigations in the Alps is revised and a new approach in interpreting the complexity of the Alpine orogeny is made. Part 1 outlines briefly the regional Alpine structure and gives a reconstruction of the pre-Mesozoic crustal remnants. Part 2 collects all basic regional data. Part 3 presents all Palaeozoic and Precambrian crystalline remnants in terms of geology, palaeotectonics, metamorphism, magmatism and geochemistry, taking into account recent data. The text concludes with a summary of all facets of the pre-Alpine evolution in correlation to Variscan times. Full Product DetailsAuthor: J.F.V.
