Overview.Nobody, apart from Jesus Christ has resurrected from the dead. Resurrection of Jesus Christ has become the central theme in Christianity and the marked difference between Christianity and other religion. Jesus died and rose from dead on the third day after His crucifixion. That is the beginning of resurrection doctrine and the basis for our hope as Christians. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has conferred victory on all Christians which is fiercely hated by atheists and adherents in other religion. Old Testament prophets prophesied it, Jesus Christ himself prophesied, His empty tomb was testified by Mary and Mary Magdalene and His post-resurrected body was seen and touched by His disciples. Notable historians like Josephus gave vivid and undisputable accounts of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, adherents of other faith continue to disprove and attack the resurrection because they know that through Jesus conquering of death, all believers will subsequently share in His victory over death, sin, and the devil and his cohorts. If the devil had known that the death of Jesus Christ will open the flood gate of victory for believers; it would have discouraged him from going to the Cross of Calvary. When Jesus Christ died on the Cross, it seemed that all had been lost. Death had won. But after three days in a rich man's tomb, Jesus Christ appeared live in victory over death. When the news of His resurrection broke, His followers refused to believe it until they saw him with their own eyes and touched Him with their own hands. Then, Jesus Christ gave assurance to the disciples to the effect that in the future; they too would have resurrected bodies like his; bodies that would never deteriorate, age, or perish. They would have new life without death which is know as everlasting life in Christ. This treatise will examine Old Testament prophesies concerning Christ coming and his resurrection, New Testament evidences on resurrection including testimonies of Christ's disciples.
