Author Information

The Honorable Victoria Pratt served as the chief judge of the Newark Municipal Court, is a professor at the Rutgers Newark School of Criminal Justice, and has taught at the Rutgers School of Law. Her TED talk, ""How Judges Can Show Respect,"" has been viewed over thirty million times. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey. The Honorable Victoria Pratt served as the chief judge of the Newark Municipal Court, is a professor at the Rutgers Newark School of Criminal Justice, and has taught at the Rutgers School of Law. Her TED talk, ""How Judges Can Show Respect,"" has been viewed over thirty million times. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey. Cory Booker is the junior United States senator from New Jersey. He was born in Washington, DC, and his parents, who both worked for IBM, later relocated the family to Harrington Park, New Jersey. A star high school athlete, he received a football scholarship to Stanford University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. He then attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar before earning his law degree from Yale University. He won a special election to fill the term of the late Senator Frank Lautenberg to become New Jersey's first African American senator and only the twenty-first person in American history to ascend directly from mayor to senator. He lives in Newark's Central Ward. Chanté McCormick is a Los Angeles-based actress and narrator who has a bachelor's degree in speech from Northwestern University's famed theater department. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and the Actors Equity Association. Cary Hite has performed in several theaters across the country as a cast member in the longest-running African American play in history, The Diary of Black Men. He also appeared in Edward II, Fences, Macbeth, Good Boys, Side Effects May Vary, and the indie feature The City Is Mine. He has voiced several projects for AudibleKids, including Souls Look Back in Wonder, From Slave Ship to Freedom Road, and Papa, Do You Love Me?
