Overview

Vedas are the sacred scriptures of the Hindus for performing rituals and other religious functions. Participation and role of women in the Vedic age is a matter of debate and discussion. Women participation in Vedic rituals such as upanayana, sraddha, agni-sanskara, etc. The role of a wife and daughter, domestic rituals, and widows in Vedic rituals and other practices in which women participated is reflected through Vedic literature.
