One significant contribution presented by Tsukamoto is the clarification of a misunderstanding in English-language works regarding the name of Kikumaru, which is Yamauchi Keiko (山内馨子) but is sometimes spelled as Kaoruko. Tsukamoto’s interactions with Hirota Kazuko, the journalist who knew and published Kikumaru’s experiences in 1975, confirmed that Kikumaru’s first name is indeed Keiko. As scholars committed to preserving the victims’ memory, it is crucial to use the correct name.” Agnese Dionisio, Waseda University, GSICCS, writing in the Journal of Cotemporary History, 60.1, 2025 https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10.1177/00220094241307428b Author InformationSachiyo Tsukamoto is Honorary Associate Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
