Tomich is Deputy Director of the Fernand Braudel Center for the Study of Economies, Historical Systems, and Civilizations, and Professor of Sociology and History at Binghamton University, State University of New York. He is the editor of New Frontiers of Slavery and the author of Slavery in the Circuit of Sugar, Second Edition: Martinique and the World-Economy, 1830-1848, both also published by SUNY Press.
