The Police A Visual Biography

Overview

All supremely talented musicians in their own right, together as The Police, Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland had a string of reggae-infused hits in the late seventies: 'Roxanne', 'Can't Stand Losing You', 'Message In A Bottle' and 'Walking On The Moon'. By the eighties, with the commercial and critical success of 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' and 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', The Police were considered to be one of the biggest bands in the world, pushing new musical boundaries where their punk and new wave contemporaries hadn't dared to go. With the hit single 'Every Breath You Take' elevating them to greater heights of stardom, there was everything to play for. In celebration of the band's full tenure and complemented with a narrative by Laura Shenton MA LLCM Dip(RSL), this visual biography is crammed full with photos and memorabilia, all reproduced on high quality art paper.

Author Information

As an author, Laura Shenton is probably best known for her music non-fiction. In particular, Dance With The Devil – The Cozy Powell Story (Wymer Publishing) and Tommy Bolin – In and Out of Deep Purple (Sonicbond Publishing). She feels that preserving the legacies of musicians who have contributed something amazing to the field is imperative. For readers who want to enjoy the ride of letting their mind get lost in a good story without having to commit to a lengthy read, then it might just be that Laura's fiction books could be your cup of tea. They are character-driven with a short and punchy narrative that gets to the point. They are all novellas or novelettes. Genres include gothic, fantasy, and adventure (mostly, but with a few diversions too). And finally, Laura's children's books... They are simple, accessible and fun. A good choice for youngsters with a fertile imagination who are at the very start of their reading journey.
