He first trained hunt/point/retrievers in the 1950s, and has owned, trained, worked and bred his own kennel of Brittanys for 33 years. As a full-time falconer he and his dogs worked on a daily basis throughout every winter, in the Highlands, Hebrides, mid-Wales, and across the UK. His book 'Falconry: The Essential Guide' has been in print since 2006. In retirement he works his dogs on local shoots and runs training days for the Brittany Club (of which he is a past Chairman) and instructs hunt/point/retrieve classes at Worcester Gundog Society.
