OverviewVojislav Deri was born on 2 November 1938 in Zaplanik (Trebinje), Bosnia and Herzegovina, into the family of an educator. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in Sarajevo. He has published ten collections of poetry and three novels. Poetry collections: Boomerang Does Not Forgive (Belgrade, 2002), It Was Summer (Belgrade, 2003), Gatherers of Distances - idutne e durimatene (bilingual edition, poems translated into Romani by Alija Krasnii, Belgrade, 2003), The Sun and the Gate (Belgrade, 2006), Cramps of Dawn (Belgrade, 2006), The Graft of Weeping (Belgrade, 2006), Splinters of Time (Belgrade, 2010), The Plastic Colour of Light (Sydney, 2010), The Dance of the Flickering Flame of Language (Melbourne, 2019, translated into English by Ariane Darmanin), The Verse Travelling Through Space (Belgrade, 2019). Novels: In Front of the Sun, Behind the Moon (Sydney, 2013), His Majesty, the Human (Sydney, 2017, translated into English by Mia Dragoje), The Cloak of the Black Wind (Belgrade, 2019), Forsaken Melody (Melbourne 2018, printed in 2025) He is also engaged in drawing and painting (oil, acrylic, ink and graphic techniques). He lives and works in Melbourne.
