His family lived in Morocco, Spain, and several states before his dad retired from the Air Force. They settled in Fosston, Minnesota where he spent his teenage years working his dad's dairy farm. After graduating from High School in 1975, he pursued a bachelor's degree in accounting which he received in 1980. He married Donna Lundquist that same year and worked one full year as a bookkeeper. Michael then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, majoring in biblical Greek studies. He received his Master of Divinity degree in 1984. That fall he came to pastor Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro, Michigan where he still serves. Michael and his wife Donna have two grown children, Joshua and Sarah.
