This beautiful little book is a little like a compilation of pictures (mainly photographs) such as you might find in an issue of Health and Efficiency - the girls in the photos are mostly exquisite to look at, and it's small wonder the servicemen of the allied nations had them in their possession... It's a lovely book with some quite stunning ladies, but for me, it could have been much bigger (as in the number of pages)! -- Paul Norman Books Monthly 17/02/2016

Author Information

Mike Brown was Head of History in a London School and is an author, broadcaster and authority on the fashions of the forties and fifties. He is the author of 'The 1940s Look', 'The 1950s Look' (Sabrestorm) and has to date written many books on wartime Britain. Mike lives in South London and having retired from teaching now works full-time writing, giving talks and doing research.
