Overview

A struggling Cape Town novelist, John, has secretly built Dex, an uncanny AI that doesn't just crunch probabilities but points him toward outcomes. When star-maker Neil Duval and his data-driven house Turnip-Round court him, John learns the real target is Dex and the ""Vaulted Room,"" a surveillance engine that manufactures taste and obedience. He's handed a contract with a buried clause demanding his ""data sets,"" while anonymous files begin mirroring his life and warning: don't give them the machine. As pressure escalates and his longtime manager Thomas chooses survival over loyalty, Neil's ultimatum forces John to decide whether Dex is a tool to exploit or a self he must protect.
