Overview

Three corpses accidentally unearthed on a farm just outside the village appear to have suffered gruesome deaths--150 years ago. Who were the victims? And what had they done to deserve such agonizing deaths? The answer is lost in the mists of local history until a new murder appears connected to an antique letter linking all of the deaths to a bogus railroad deal that fleeced village residents in 1855. As Officer Nate Janowsky and newspaper editor Star Calloway team up again to try and unmask the killer, their efforts are complicated by an even more daunting task: planning a wedding--a task that reveals cracks in their barely year-old relationship. They also discover the old letter contains secrets of its own. And that and the killings aren't done.
