Overview

""Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect."" What does it mean to be perfect? Is entire sanctification possible in this life? Such words evoke worry and wonder in this time. In this introductory resource, pastor Nick Quient carefully explores the relevant questions surrounding Pauline theology and the journey toward perfect holiness in Christ. Addressing topics like sin, heaven, marriage, and the work of Jesus Christ in relation to sanctification, this book is a helpful resource for the church and for pastor-theologians who are seeking to live out the life of the Spirit.

When Jesus commands us to be perfect, just as our Father in heaven is perfect, it turns out he really meant it. The aim of any archer is to hit the bullseye with every shot, even if they don't succeed with every shot. Perfection is our goal, and the Holy Spirit is moving us in that direction. With every decision, we move with or against the Spirit's leading. I'm grateful to Nicholas Quient for this thoroughly and exquisitely reasoned presentation in favor of entire sanctification through the death and resurrection of Jesus and the ongoing presence and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Part of the good news of Jesus is the invitation to share in the triune love of God, who is always teaching us how to be more like Jesus. Whether you believe we truly can attain perfection in this life or not, you will be challenged and inspired by The Perfection of Our Faithful Wills. --Bruxy Cavey, Senior Pastor at The Meeting House, author of The End of Religion
