Overview

This young adult fiction story is a uniquely illustrated poetic allegory about love, loss, and revenge in New York City. Milicent Wryght marries the man of her dreams, but in short order, her uptown Manhattan life sours as she becomes jealous of her hubby's hobby of training and caring for homing pigeons-and his apparent affection for them. Enraged by what she perceives as his neglect, a scorned Milicent, in a foolishly reckless act of revenge, simultaneously loses her husband and her good life. In an odd twist of Karmic events, she is propelled into a very different life and a most peculiar plight in the Big Apple.

Stylish illustrations by Annette Lee send it home. -Rita Plush, Book Reviewer, Fire Island News With sardonic wit and verse that possesses a sly musicality, Joanne de Simone creates a cautionary tale for readers of all ages and eras. It is a dark and beautifully illustrated fable crafted to engage and surprise its audience. -Mindy Kronenberg, author, professor, and publisher of Book/Mark Quarterly Review
