As the production of pearls - nowadays these are nearly exclusively cultured pearls - is restricted to a few regions of the world, the pearl trade is in particular a branch of the economy with international contacts. The vocabulary used in the pearl production as well as in the pearl trade comprises among others also many specialist terms, which are unknown outside expert circles and which cannot be found even in the biggest general dictionaries. To all those who work in the pearl branch, especially first-time employees, this dictionary offers the possibility to learn the specialized vocabulary fast and concentrated und to apply it confidently in written and oral communication. But also the jeweller or the traveller, who intends to buy pearl jewellery abroad and wants to avoid misunderstandings in conversation or mistakes caused by misnomers, may derive advantage from this book.
