OverviewAs the production of pearls - nowadays these are nearly exclusively cultured pearls - is restricted to a few regions of the world, the pearl trade is in particular a branch of the economy with international contacts. The vocabulary used in the pearl production as well as in the pearl trade comprises among others also many specialist terms, which are unknown outside expert circles and which cannot be found even in the biggest general dictionaries. To all those who work in the pearl branch, especially first-time employees, this dictionary offers the possibility to learn the specialized vocabulary fast and concentrated und to apply it confidently in written and oral communication. But also the jeweller or the traveller, who intends to buy pearl jewellery abroad and wants to avoid misunderstandings in conversation or mistakes caused by misnomers, may derive advantage from this book. Besides pearl production and pearl trade, also terms concerning the laboratory examination, which is indispensable with expensive pearl jewellery, as well as the names of various molluscs, the shell material of which, above all the mother-of-pearl (nacre), is used to produce jewellery articles, have been included to some extent. A list of known names of widespread imitation pearls (fake pearls) completes the book. Includes the language combinations: French - English English - French German - English English - German Full Product DetailsAuthor: Gerald HoferPublisher: Createspace Imprint: Createspace Dimensions: Width: 12.90cm , Height: 0.60cm , Length: 19.80cm Weight: 0.115kg ISBN: 9781467968164ISBN 10: 1467968161 Pages: 108 Publication Date: 06 December 2011 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: Available To Order ![]() We have confirmation that this item is in stock with the supplier.
