Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationThe late Massey Shepherd, a major figure in American liturgical studies and the liturgical movement for many years, was co-founder in 1946 of Associated Parishes aiming (inter alia) to restore the eucharist to the main Sunday worship service. He long served as director of the School of Theology at Sewanee Theological Seminary. From 1954 until his retirement in 1981 he held the Hodges Chair in Liturgics at The Church Divinity School of the Pacific at Berkeley (California). He was a member of the Standing Liturgical Commission during the 1950s and later took part in the Consilium of Vatican II. In 1977 he and Alan Conner founded the periodical Illuminations.
