In her private practice, Tania specializes in parent consults, and she helps parents explore how their early relationships affect the way they understand themselves, their children, other people, and the world.Born in South Africa, Tania earned a Master’s degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle. She and her husband were foster parents for years and have two bio children. Tania presents workshops on children’s mental health both nationally and internationally. She co-hosts “ The Childpsych Podcast,” and in the educational world, she supervises Master’s level students and provisional psychologists. Tania works primarily from the perspective of attachment theory, which focuses on bonds between parents and children. Her gift, both in the therapy room and when writing, is transforming that concept into concrete strategies parents can use in everyday life with their children. Tammy Schamuhn is a Registered Psychologist and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She is the Co-Founder and Director of the Institute of Child Psychology. Tammy earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and worked as an elementary teacher before completing her Master’s degree in Counselling. As a psychologist, Tammy has worked in private practice for over a decade in Alberta, Canada, primarily with children and their families. She also supervises Master’s-level counseling students, play therapists, and provisional psychologists. She is a part-time faculty member at City University Seattle. Tammy also has a big place in her heart for animals and developed an animal-assisted therapy program, Hooves of Hope Ranch, which she and her husband operate.
