""The Pain I Hide"" consists of 30 different poems that lead up to my story about struggling with depression. Within this book, you will read about the different stages and emotions of depression. Being that this is a difficult topic to discuss, I didn't know how to tell someone what was going through also because I was still trying to understand it myself. I've always loved poetry so one day I decided to write a poem about how I was feeling which lead me to writing a book.

Ever since I was a child, I've always loved writing. I can't remember a time when I didn't have a pencil and paper in my hand. I grew up in St. Louis City. The schools I went to were Laclede, Raph Bunch, and Gateway (C/O 2013). In each of those schools, I've had some type of writing class. I also have a mentor who helped me with writing and research about poetry Maya Angelou is my inspiration for poetry.I strive to be an inspiration to others not only for poetry but in ways to overcome their fears and struggles.
