Overview"This picture dictionary for elementary school students presents over 1500 words drawn from the content areas of the US core curriculum in social studies, history, science and maths. There are eight thematic units, which are each divided into separate topics. Each topic has a full-page color illustration on the right-hand page which places the words in context. The left-hand page features individual pictures - ""callout pictures"" - taken from the illustration as a whole. This makes it easier for students to isolate items and search for them in the context of the whole picture. The dictionary is available in both monolingual and English-Spanish editions. It can be used by itself or with the accompanying components as the core of an entire curriculum. The CD component provides clear pronunciation of all the words from the dictionary, along with recordings of the content readings and content chants."
