Jones is Professor of Economics and Research Director of the Health, Econometrics, and Data Group (HEDG) at the University of York, UK, as well as a visiting professor at Monash University. He was a joint editor of Health Economics for more than twenty-five years. Additionally, he was an elected member of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA) Executive Board from 2011 to 2014, and chaired the organization's Arrow Award committee from 2014 to 2016. He was President of the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA) from 2016 to 2018. His work is primarily in microeconometrics and health economics with particular interests in the determinants of health, the economics of addiction, and socioeconomic inequalities in health and healthcare.
