Angel received his B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University; rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University; and an M.A. in English Literature from the City College of New York. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of DIvinity degree from Yeshiva University in 1992. Rabbi Angel has authored and edited fourteen books, including Voices in Exile: A Study in Sephardic Intellectual History, and a collection of essays, edited by his son, Hayyim, entitled Seeking Good, Speaking Peace.
