In July 2025, catastrophic flash floods swept through Central Texas, including Kerr County and Camp Mystic along the Guadalupe River. Within 45 minutes, the river rose over 25 feet, carrying away cabins, families, and entire lives. As of this book's release, at least 120 people are confirmed dead, with more than 170 still missing. The loss is beyond words. The Original Witness is a poetic tribute to those taken-and to those left behind. Inspired by both science and spirit, this reflection honors the power of water and the depth of grief it leaves behind.
