Overview

Visionary Poetry For A New Age A sprawling work of poetry and original illustrations; a lone cry of freedom far out in the wild perimeters of civilization. And throughout the book there is a love of rhythm, nature, and of the communal alchemy of sharing bold truths with fellow souls around a literary campfire. Styles range from jaunty wordplay to languid surrealist phantasms, with odes to rainforests, rock stars and robber barons, to elegies of loved ones passed, cinematic dreams and surrealist fantasies, self-reflections and realizations. Featuring 13 dreamlike line drawings created in pen and ink.

If steampunk ever transformed into lyrical form, this book would be the melody...Dark and delightfully twisty. -W. C. The wild, post-apocalytpic imagery, pacing, and disjointed structure of the poetry in this volume immediately called to mind The Wasteland by T.S. Elliot for this reader. -J. B. By no means a bedtime read, this book, a beautiful amalgam of poetry and prose, needs the reader to be alert and engaged on various levels to be able to fully enjoy the poet's creativity. -M Buy this book and you won't be disappointed! -L. Author Information

"E. P. Mattson is a visual artist, poet and songwriter based in Venice, California. After receiving his BA in Painting he moved to Los Angeles, and for the past 15 years he's been an artist in visual effects, with over 40 credits on IMDB. Three films he collaborated on crossed a billion dollars in worldwide gross; Joker, Beauty And The Beast, and Fate Of The Furious. His art aesthetic is a mashup of Surrealism, Steampunk and Pop Art with an appreciation for Eastern philosophies and a cinematic undercurrent informed by his years in film. Drawing inspiration from the upward spiritual progression of humanity and the genius hand of nature, his work champions liberty and individuality over dystopian collectives and mass media influence. Moving fluidly through digital art, video design, creative writing and music, he handles all aspects of creation; from self-publishing his poetry, designing print-on-demand art, and composing, playing and self-producing rock music. His debut music single is set to drop Fall of 2020. In 2018 he released The Opulence Of Invention, a sprawling collection of poetry and illustrations, rated 4.5 stars on Amazon. #TheOpulenceOfInvention. Future projects include a collection of 5 one-act plays about primal fears, full-length solo and band record releases, and comedic/surrealist experiments in musical theater and novel writing.
