Overview

On the island of Naucritus there is a Mouth, from which monstrous Golgos emerge each night to hunt the living. Young Aletes knows no other existence, having passed his entire life in secret here in isolation with his parents. Now, at age 17, he's stranded when his mother and father fail to return from a trip to the mainland. Armed with his father's flintlock pistols and rapier, he sets sail in search of his parents, his only companions a wild dog pup and a pregnant sparrow. Along the way he battles insane sentient robots and vegetative mockeries of men. His journey leads him to a rotting mansion on a floating island where a human monster lives, a blood relation to Aletes. The one man who knows of the terrible crime committed in the shade of the nightmare sun...
