The Nightfall Rising: The First Gomer Wars

Overview

This book is for my lovely bride, Elise, who is my muse, confidant, researcher, editor, agent, and chief science advisor. There is no question in my mind, her scientific or ""egghead"" skills and knowledge were critical to the completion of this tome, and they will continue to be just as critical to the others that will follow in the future. I have assured her that if there were any flaws in the science, they would be my errors. If on the other hand, you feel that the science is ""spot on"", then I would humbly acknowledge her expertise in the area. My work is also for my wonderful daughter, Jennifer, who, like Elise, added more to the book than she will ever be able to fathom. Her skills at keeping the real world at bay, keeping me organized, and keeping me moving forward were invaluable. The number of times she was able to buy me a few minutes was vital in my being able to finish this work. She often jokes that she is CDO, because she must have OCD in alphabetical order. Well, if that is her curse, for me, it was a blessing. I cannot thank her enough! You may find, as you read this book, that two characters stand out as being critical to the main character's sanity. Just as Leah and Chris keep General Patrick ""out of the weeds"", my spirit guides, Elise and Jennifer, have done the same for me. To them, as with all things in my life, this original work and the ""second edition"" are both dedicated.
