Overview

And I know then what the Night Whale is saying. I understand. ""Anything is possible."" A grandmother and grandchild look out for the Night Whale, a magical sky creature last seen when Nana was a child herself. The story transports the reader off to a world of wonder and beauty, as they soar over cities and landscapes on the back of the Night Whale, far away from home and back again. This is a beautifully lyrical and stunningly illustrated picture book about adventures and moving on, helping children to come to terms with saying goodbye, and the majestic Night Whale's reassuring message is that anything is possible.

Reviews

With Nana and the Night Whale’s reassurance that “Anything is possible” this tender, lyrically told tale with Gillian Elide O’Mara’s awesome illustrations offers readers much to ponder upon concerning the enormity of the universe, intergenerational relationships and farewells. * Red Reading Hub * It is the detail which can make all the difference, to anything. In this case, as in many stories, it is the thought that has gone into each and every word for they are the detail, they are what makes a story happen…it is gentle, oh so tender and rich too. * Armadillo Magazine * A touching tale of coping with goodbyes to a loved one, the book is lavishly illustrated by Gillian Eilidh O’Mara using rich dark reds, charcoal greys, contrasting splashes of white and the sumptuous colours of the night as it grades slowly towards dawn. * The Letterpress Project *
