After a full year of no contact, her call had come completely out of the blue, yet at the same time attorney Nick Cromwell had been expecting it. Michele Concannon, the one that got away, had finally come crawling back. But she never makes it to their reunion, a one-car accident having landed her in a coma. Nick races to be by her ICU bedside and learns that her accident was anything but. What initially seemed to be Michele's intent to resume their relationship leads him instead down a perilous path where former friends are now foes, adversaries become unlikely allies, and nothing in the quaint little town is as it once was. As Nick begins to investigate, he finds that Michele has left clues that only he can follow and they lead him to two conclusions: the more he uncovers, the greater his danger, and the faster Michele recovers, the sooner she is once again a threat to those who had tried to silence her initially.
