Overview

This text is dedicated to the implications of the new regionalism for global security and development. The fourth volume in the five-volume ""The New Regionalism Series"", it features contributions from the UNU/WIDER project on new regionalism. Earlier volumes have dealt with the relationship between globalization and regionalization as well as various national perspectives from the North and from the South on the process of regionalization. The fifth volume will be published separately next year.

BJVRN HETTNE is Professor at the Department of Peace and Development, Gvteborg University. He is the author of a number of books and articles on development theory, international political economy, European integration and ethnic relations.ANDRAS INOTAI is Director-General of the Institute for World Economics, Budapest. Since February 1996 he has been Head of the Task force for Hungary's EU-integration Strategy; he was also a Staff Member of the World Bank, Washington, DC (1989-1991).OSVALDO SUNKEL is Professor of Economics, at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Co-ordinator of the Sustainable Development Program, Centro de Anaisis de Polmticas Publicas, Universidad de Chile. He is also special advisor to ECLAC and president of CINDE.
