The New Orleans Covenant: An Afroqueer Gothic Novel

Overview

Hazel returns to New Orleans after a bitter divorce, seeking solace in the city she once called home. She joins her cousins, Joanna and Patricia, who have inherited a sprawling plantation from their mother, Dorothy. The plantation, a decaying estate with a haunted past, was left to Dorothy by her former slave owners. The sisters and Hazel move into the old house, only to discover it is teeming with restless spirits. These include the ghosts of former slaves and their masters, some of whom are welcoming, while others are angry and tormented. At first, the women are terrified by the spectral presence and the dark history surrounding them. However, they soon form a covenant, determined to confront the malevolent spirits and help the benevolent ones find peace.
