The Mostly True Tale of Getting Roofied In Tokyo And Waking Up Married In Rural Thailand

Overview

A misfit from Michigan. A pilgrimage through Japan. A spiritual left turn into the heart of rural Thailand. Willie Lyonsan - a salt-of-the-earth Midwesterner and reluctant protagonist - sets out across Japan to reset his life. Instead, he's drugged in a Tokyo bar and wakes up in Bangkok with no memory, a new tattoo, and - apparently - a wife. What begins as a chaotic misadventure slowly twists into something else entirely: a darkly funny, deeply poetic story of collapse, recovery, and the quiet ways grace finds us when we stop looking. Narrated by Oscar Slamp, Willie's lifelong friend and keeper of the tale, this wildly entertaining, genre blending, memoir (of sorts) uniquely explores heartbreak, humor, spiritual reckoning, and redemptive love. It's Eat Pray Love if it were written by Hunter S. Thompson in a Wild Turkey blackout. There's even a Boston Bull named Louie who just might steal the whole show.

Reviews

Honestly, I couldn't put it down, and that's saying something with me. It has been a very long time since a story has pulled me in as much as this one. So well done. The world needs to see this. The story has changed me for the better and given me a perspective on my own life that I haven't had in a long time. I didn't realize how much I missed myself until last week. So good to remember who I am! There's lots of ""book club"" discussions going on in my head, but one of them was certainly oriented around the fact that a lot of books/movies/television is centered around self discovery. What I am loving about this story is that it's driving home to never forget who you are and to stay true to your own north in the face of the adversity of life. That compass goes crazy once in a while, but if you know how your heart ticks, you'll always find your way back. Well done. Bravo! Patti W I have so many feelings, so many emotions, so much silence and peacefulness ..so much wowness, so much love..I don't wanna put this down...I don't want it to end...that's when I know I've lived in a good story, a righteous book... I cried I laughed I loved. I saw so much of my journey in yours.. You must get this published. This was pure joy. Spiritual Healing. You could really help reach and heal a lot of people who are still walking around going through the motions and hurt of life out.. This must be told. Sheri S
