Overview

Smogg is a concrete jungle devoid of plants and animals. The city's inhabitants live a mundane life and have never even ventured outside of the city walls. However, when Calvin Callioni and his Most Splendidly Spectacular Circus of Starzborough come to visit, Smogg's citizens soon discover that their leader has been suppressing them. They begin to question what lies beyond the city gates and start to rebel, spurred on by the larger-than-life ringmaster and his merry troupe of circus performers and animals. Will the citizens finally wake from their reverie after all these years?

Michelle Path is an Australian children's author. She has always been an avid reader and fondly recalls reading many wonderful books as a child. In primary school her class were asked to write and illustrate a book, and there her dream of becoming a writer was born. Michelle's main goal is to encourage children to enjoy reading; she aims to write books that are fun to read but also have an educational slant or a moral to them. Many of her books contain themes such as caring for the environment and animals, along with a good dose of humour. When Michelle is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her kelpie, Ruffy, and riding her horses; she is often found competing in dressage competitions. She also enjoys spending time at the beach, walking her dogs, going to the theatre and seeing concerts.
