Overview

The majestic Kaluk trees provided the Kkin a bountiful, carefree life in their canopies for many generations, but events are building which threaten their idyllic world. At a pivotal moment in their lives-bound by cycles and seasons of which they are unaware-the Kkin find themselves unprepared for the challenges to come. Soon the mob would be able to see through the canopy in their direction. Yapu took a step toward Uka. 'Let's send the basket down, ' said Yapu slowly. He took another step and, reaching out, changed the brake setting. Then in one single motion, he flew forwards catching Uka by surprise and pushing him backwards into the basket. It was a split second before Yapu landed on top of his friend because the basket had a head start on its journey, but it seemed like much more. With the inertia overcome, they were plummeting with increasing speed. Amazingly, it seemed to make no impression on Uka. He scrambled up from under Yapu who still lay sprawled on the basket floor. 'Are you crazy?!' he yelled. Yapu laughed a bit wildly. This was going to be a hair-raising ride. 'Well, ' he said, looking up at Uka, 'at least there's nothing breakable here.' 'What about us?!' replied Uka scathingly. Note: This is the 6 x 9"" size edition of The Mongrabi. If you would like all the books in the series to be the same size, it is suggested that you purchase this version. Due to the length of Book 2 which the author was reluctant to divide into two parts, the entire series was shifted to this slightly larger size to keep costs down.
