OverviewScoop, wiggle-wiggle, went the mole. Working on his great, grand hole. Mole is on a mission to build an extraordinary shelter for him and his friends. Bird, Beaver and Bee are jealous – they find it insulting that anyone would choose to write a story about Mole’s mound, especially when they could be writing about Bird’s impressive nest, Beaver’s incredible lodge or Bee’s intricate hive. One by one, they rush to impress the audience with their own creations, failing to notice a storm that is on its way. When it finally arrives, Bird, Beaver and Bee’s houses are destroyed, and they are forced to seek shelter inside Mole’s mound! It becomes clear that this seemingly ordinary mound is much more extraordinary on the inside. A brilliantly funny picture book with showcasing the importance of humility and the value of empathy. An exciting new voice on the children’s picture book scene, Will’s writing is filled with warmth, wisdom and a playful sense of adventure. His stories champion confidence, curiosity, and courage – empowering young readers to speak up, stand out, and embrace the world around them. It was while reading bedtime stories to his youngest siblings that Will first fell in love with picture books. Inspired by their magic and encouraged to write one of his own, he began crafting what would become his debut story, The Shrew with the Flu. A testament to his ambition and belief, Will crowdfunded and self-published The Shrew with the Flu, which has now sold over 5,000 copies in the UK alone. Will's lyrical, read-aloud writing has resonated with children, parents, and educators alike. Will has performed at hundreds of schools and festivals, presented awards for the Bristol Young Heroes, and supported charities helping improve the lives of children and families.
