The Modern Confessions of Saint August Stine

Overview

This book is rated: PG! Oh Gee! & My Goodness! Some occasionally humor helps offset the serious tone and makes this writing unique. August Stine is a pen name. I prefer to remain anonymous as much as possible because my immediate family are strong fundamentalist Christians. We have a good loving family unity in spite of this. My book is controversial in that it addresses deficiencies of character most people have but will not admit. This is similar to a man who forgets to zip up his pants and goes out in public--an embarrassment but not a fatal flaw. I was a fundamentalist Christian for almost 20 years. I was faithful, honest, a hard worker and an all-around-wonderful-Tebow-type-Christian. Determined to serve God with all of my heart, I attended a radical Christian University, joined the Air Force, got married, had kids bought a house. I was a professor at a Christian College for seven years until I had a mid life crisis . . . actually it was more a no-life crisis. This writing is my story of trying to Get a Life after leaving the ministry. I got very angry with God. I had never been angry with Him before, but the struggles for survival finally boiled over. I found God paid poor wages and wanted 10% of that. I had no life. So I quit church and religion and launched out into the real world to find out who the hell I really was.
