The Misspelled Fate

Overview

The High Council of Aethelgard is preparing for the end of the world. They preach a prophecy of total annihilation, claiming a feral Warmage will rise from the northern wastes to shatter the continent. They have hoarded the kingdom's wealth in deep subterranean bunkers, leaving the citizens to starve under a decaying, necrotic sky. Royal Scribe Elara lives a quiet life buried in the deep archives. Her existence is defined by dust, iron-gall ink, and absolute obedience. But when she analyzes the original ancient vellum of the Doom Prophecy, she discovers a microscopic grammatical error. The prophecy does not call for a war of annihilation. It outlines an archaic marriage rite. The Exiled Warmage is not meant to destroy the world; he is the only man possessing the raw power necessary to help her save it. Armed with nothing but a stolen scroll and a bone tracing stylus, Elara must flee the Citadel and navigate the deadly, chaotic ash plains of the quarantine zone. She must find the most dangerous man alive, convince him to abandon his entirely justified hatred for her people, and perform a series of terrifyingly intimate magical rituals. High Scholar Vance and his elite Vanguard assassins are hunting them. The dimensional tear in the sky is widening. To stitch reality back together, a creature of absolute structure and a monster of pure chaos must surrender their borders to each other, or watch the world burn.
