Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAuthor Biography Jahi, for the last 27 years, has been known as an international Hip Hop artist, born and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio, and calling Oakland home for the last 25 years. Jahi is also a curator, education designer, and former school executive. Jahi is currently the co-DJ/MC support for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rap group Public Enemy. In addition, Jahi's career in music spans the globe, as he has released over 18 projects since 1999. Jahi's music, style, creative endeavors to date, and purpose of representing socially conscious Hip Hop and speaking truth to power are now fully moving in a new direction-as an author. Jahi's first book, The Microphone Journeyman: Influences, Messages and Notes from the Stage, released in 2020 on Enemy Books (owned and operated by Chuck D), spoke about the musical influences, artists, songs, and experiences that helped Jahi form his identity and encouraged him to begin his journey as a professional musician in 1999. It also included a chapter on Jahi's tour in 2019 as a member of Enemy Radio (Chuck D, DJ Lord from Cypress Hill, and the S1W's) with De La Soul and Wu-Tang. In addition, Jahi chronicles his first trip to Ghana as part of the Year of the Return efforts, inviting Black people from the diaspora to come home, visit, and consider being in Africa. It concluded with a photo lab and a message to Hip Hop. Jahi's second book, The Intersection, also released in 2020, was more of a summary of Jahi's experience traveling to 20 museums around the world, presenting Hip Hop as a world culture with life-affirming principles. Now, Jahi returns six years later with his new book, The Microphone Journeyman: The Journey Continues, which chronicles Jahi's 2025 world tour travels with Public Enemy, including a 20-country run with Guns N' Roses. Jahi continues to open himself up through personal reflections, post-show notes, observations, and opinions on his experiences, functioning in part as a travel log, sharing his favorite places and what it's like to be a Black man, a musician, a stadium stage rocker, and still remain grounded, humble, and a lifelong learner in the process of transformation. Like his first book, it includes photos from his travels, shares an incredible story about his second trip to Africa-this time to Dakar, Senegal-and offers another message for the culture in these incredible times.
