OverviewWatching Darius Jr. or DJ as he was called had Mac and Marlene clapping like they never saw a baby before. It was two days after Christmas and four days from DJ's first birthday and Papa and Mimi had him with them for two days. After the Christmas celebration at Darius and Brie's they were allowed to bring him to their home. The home they moved into ten months earlier when they got married on Valentine's Day 2025, six weeks after DJ was born. Married after three children and forty-two years of loving, breaking up and making up but in 2024 Mac told Marlene, marry me or let me go. Marlene was a lot of things but being a fool not recognizing what she had in Mac wasn't one of them. She learned after he gave her space for a few months. ""He's such a little dude."" Mac said when DJ climbed in his lap. He stared down at his grandson and Marlene stared at them. ""He is, even Dara is enamored."" Marlene said drily. Dara was their youngest, their spoiled daughter who came home over two years earlier after losing her job amid an affair with her boss but she had turned that to her advantage. She received a settlement and took a job with Brie and was now the Assistant Director at Brie's school and a successful education content creator. According to her she was about her bag at thirty-six and kids weren't on the horizon. ""It's as close as she will get to being a mommy, her eggs are floundering."" Mac gave Marlene a look but continued rocking DJ who was falling asleep. Dara was out of his pockets, buying her own condo and that suited him just fine. ""Brie had this little one at almost forty, he's just fine, anything is possible. Three years ago neither Darius or Brie thought about marriage or babies either but here we are."" Marlene turned down her lips in that ironic way she had before saying, ""I guess so, we're in our 60s and here we are."" ""There's that. I'm going to put DJ in his bed. The kids are coming to steal him back this evening."" Mac said. Marlene watched him carry the baby to his designated room, remembering he had also been a hands on dad. ""Marlene stop ogling me."" Mac said without turning around. He heard her snorting laughter.
