Author Information

Yen Chu was born in Taichung, Taiwan, before her family immigrated to the U.S. As an East Asian, she learned to speak Mandarin Chinese at home and English at school, becoming fascinated with the dichotomy of Asian versus American culture. She immersed herself in the rich and colorful lifestyle of Silver City, New Mexico, studying the methods by which people may communicate and connect despite their differences. Now pursuing a BFA in Ceramics alongside a minor in Literature and Cell and Molecular Biology, she seeks to understand the networks that link people through the fine arts. Katie DeLong's major is in Interdisciplinary Studies and her concentrations are in English, Music, and Psychology. Once she completes her bachelor's degree, she plans to obtain an alternative licensure to become a teacher. Outside of academics, Katie enjoys honing her skills as a musician, playing video games, playing with her two cats, and spending time with friends and family. Samantha Gonzales is an aspiring teacher. She is majoring in Secondary Education with a focus in Fine Art. She is working towards completing her bachelor's degree and moving into working in a public school as a high school art teacher. She enjoys crafting and doing things such as crochet and beadwork. She loves spending time with her friends and cooking for them.
