Blessed with beauty, brains, boldness, and background, Bianca took to heart the sixteenth-century Italian artist Benvenuto Cellini's declaration that whoever has done anything of excellence ought to describe their life with their own hand. And since the age of thirteen, she has kept copious notes of her adventures, friendships, loves, and life reflections, which she now mines as fascinating firsthand fodder for book one of her memoirs. Delving into the first forty years of her life, from 1933 to 1973, The Maverick Contessa divulges the story of her family's flight from Italy to Brazil at the outset of World War II, continues through her rebellious and romantic youth, and follows her blossoming career as a television journalist, newspaper columnist, and best-selling author. Traversing the globe, Bianca finds love, and loses it; entertains the likes of David Niven, Ella Fitzgerald, and Albert Camus; and influences South American presidents and prime ministers.
