Meeting him was probably as close as I've ever come to a religious experience...As we talked, I realised that he'd been looking at my cartoons for quite some time...I was thrilled that Madiba, my hero and greatest inspiration, had noticed what I was doing, and supported it. Since then I've always had in my mind the image of Madiba as a giant, taking great strides across the nation, with a throng of diminutive people at his heels. And I'm among them, documenting, commenting, satirising. I like to think that my own small story has in some way been a thread woven into his epic story.
