Author Information

Ian Fleming (1908-1964) was a British author, journalist, and naval intelligence officer best known for creating the iconic James Bond series. Born into a wealthy family in London, Fleming was educated at Eton and Sandhurst before working in banking and journalism. His experiences during World War II, where he served as a key figure in British Naval Intelligence, heavily influenced his writing and shaped the character of James Bond. In 1953, Fleming published Casino Royale, the first of 14 Bond novels that would cement his legacy as one of the most influential spy fiction writers of the 20th century. Fleming's Bond novels, renowned for their gripping plots, glamorous settings, and complex characters, have sold millions of copies worldwide and inspired one of the most successful film franchises in history. David R. Smith is the editor of Meta Mad Books
