Overview

It is 1660, and thirty-five years have passed since d'Artagnan and the three musketeers first met in Paris and swore loyalty to each other with their famous cry: 'One for all and all for one'. Now, only d'Artagnan remains in the service of the young king, Louis XIV, but royal intrigue, jealousy, a ruthless courtier, and a dark secret, hidden behind the forbidding walls of the Bastille, are all set to test his loyalty to the limits. Author Information

Alexandre Dumas was born France in 1802. His father - a disgraced Bonapartist General - died while he was still a child, but his mother's tales of his bravery during the Napoleonic wars inspired the young Alexandre to write some of the best-loved adventure stories the world has known, such as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo (both also available from Campfire.). Dumas died in 1870 and was buried in his hometown, but was transferred to Paris' pantheon in 2002 and interred alongside other French luminaries in honor of his enduring legacy.
