Paul Josephson was a Protestant minister in Greenwich Village where his principal responsibility was to work among the bohemian community of artists, poets, and musicians who lived in that part of New York City. Since these poets and artists gave no thought to ever going to church, the idea was for the minister of this church to go out to them in the streets and cafes of the Village and become a presence in their midst. The irony was that it soon became a question of who was impacting who. Paul Josephson found himself becoming more and more like the souls he was supposed to witness to. Then something happened. He met a man and the encounter changed everything in his life, both spiritually and otherwise, an encounter that can be summed as a case of being surprised by Grace, leading him into the Catholic church and into a life of true faith.
