Overview

The Classic Publications 'brand' is recognised as an authoritative specialist publisher on the Luftwaffe. In the ""Classic Guide to Modelling"" leading modeller Brett Green applies this expertise to modelling books on two campaigns in World War 2 - the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britian and the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front, offering a broad view of Luftwaffe aircraft in the campaign. Each book will contain plentiful black and white wartime photos on featured aircraft (fighters and bombers) blended with colour photos of model construction. Colour profile artwork will be augmented by 'flat art' schematic views of upper and lower surfaces and 'scrap' detail views. Following an overview of each aircraft's operational history (where known) and history of its units, the reader will be given a visual step-by-step guide to building that particular aircraft by top-class/award-winning modellers, with guides to variant conversion, markings, weathering etc. Further information includes: tools and equipment; tips from the experts; short history of campaign; tint boxes on key aces and pilots; kit availability, reference sources and websites; and, summary of after-market products and associated products such as resin and etched brass conversion kits, decal sheets, paints etc. Author Brett Green runs hyperscale.com, one of the most popular modelling websites in the world. He is based in Australia.

Reviews

This is not just a modelling book but the chapter on each machine also contains information on the actual aircraft built, including a colour profile. Most of the subjects are produced in either 1/48 or 1/32 apart from the He 111 which is in 1/72. These are not simply 'kit buiIds', but as the modeller thought fit, 'after market' parts were incorporated into them. As far as l am concerned this is immaterial, the modeller aiways has a choice in that department. What interested me most was the linish applied to each one, which really separates the 'men from the boys'. For instance the He 111. This particular aircraft of KG 55 was over- painted in a 'night scheme' and the model was shown with this temporary paint job showing wear. You are taken through the painting process in detail, which culminataes in a stunning replica. These people are master modellers, make no mistake about it, But whatever your personnel skill level as a modeller l am certain you will learn something to raise the standard of your next project. * MAM September 2010 * ... from a modelling point of view, the content is quite simply fantastic. Who can resist the combination of super-clear photographs of professional-grade models with accompanying step-by-step photos, colour profile illustrations and choice wartime photographs of the subjects covered, all laid out in a clear, slick presentation? * Model Magazine International *
