Overview

The Lucky Dragon is a cozy, grown-up fairy tale set in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In it, 52-year-old Sally Munson is a self-made doormat, sinking under household drudgery and a faltering marriage. She gave up her dreams of classical music stardom so long ago that she's forgotten them. At 35, Nora Wanamaker, thinking that she has finally landed Mr. Right, almost doesn't notice Mr. Wong (first name, D'Wight), when he makes her a perfect order of egg rolls. All three strangers continue mired in their own and other people's expectations, until- in a jolt of magical luck-a defunct Chinese restaurant opens its bolted doors and brings them together to discover their pasts, presents, and futures.

Samantha MacDonald Solberg has been creating stories on paper since childhood. In her day job, she flexes this muscle as a communications and marketing professional. For over 15 years, she's written stories, worked with the media, and built audiences on behalf of mission-driven organizations. When not writing, Samantha can usually be found watching soccer with friends or hanging out with her husband Collin, cat Cece, and basset hound Dixie in their Minneapolis, MN, home. The Lucky Dragon is her first published novel. Beth MacDonald, a former professional craft designer, is the author of two previous novels, A History of Forever and And One Other, and a book of poetry, Twenty-five: A Memoir of Cancer. She has been a resident of Minneapolis, MN, since 2017, but spends most summer weekends at her longtime lake cabin in South Dakota and escapes the cold Minnesota winters in a quirky cottage in Beaufort, SC.
